Well the time has come, i have been sent an invitation to a final stage hearing - long term sickness.

I will not be attending this meeting as the whole thing is just to stressful, but i have asked a work colleague to attend in my place, the letter says i can provide a written statement, i am not sure if i should do this also?, ...... or where to begin, or how.............. (Any help would be much appreciated) Please!!Confused ....

I have not involved the union as i feel that my work colleague knows the problems RA has caused me.

There will be 5 people at the hearing plus my colleague, i am aware the this could be a dismissal meeting depending on the outcome from consultants, i did not ask to see the letters prior to the meeting as i just want it all over and this would have stretched the time waiting for resultsing is .

Meeting will be on the 18thJan at 3.30.

Hi Anne Marie

I would provide a written statement. I suggest that firstly, just for yourself, use bullet points to write down the main things that are the problem and then turn each one of them into a sentence. Now you have a letter. Good luck with it.

GOOD LUCK for the 18th January. I will be thinking of you. I can imagine how stressful this must be. Thank goodness you have a supportive colleague. Maybe you should think about having a union person there. My trade union was so supportive when I had to have meetings about my RA at work. Whatever you decide, I am right behind you. If you get the desired outcome I will be cheering! I know that I could very well be in the same situation in the future as I am struggling at work. Best wishes from Naomi.

Hi Anne-Marie

I can imagine it must be terribly stressful having to go through all this, and thank goodness you have such supportive friends and colleagues. I agree with Sheila, it would be well worth writing a statement, you have nothing to lose by doing it and will surely support your case even further. So many people just don t " get it " how devastating RA can be for some, so let them know.

Sending my best wishes and I m sure all will go well at the meeting, keep us posted.

Dear Anne Marie,

Firstly I would like to send you my best wishes at this bad time xxxx

I was like you, attended the final stage hearing with my employer last August and I was dismissed. I was devastated.

I would definitley do a written statement if you will not be attending the hearing.

I wish you all the very best of luck,, and please keep me updated with how you get on.

xxxxxxxxxx

I would definitely get the union involved - they are not there to put the facts of the situation (that's down to you/your friend) but to ensure everything is done properly (& legally) Does your friend know anything about employment law?

Friend from work is housing and employment officer, for our clients ,she told me that after the final hearing on the 18th all paper work will be forwarded to pensions they will make the final decision, she has been the lead in all my return to work meetings, sickness meetings etc she knows how hard i worked to keep up and how difficult things were.

I am just going to have to wait and see!!!!

Wednesday,s Meeting has been canceled as H.R have not given me enough time to receive a reply from ATOS, i have a feeling they were trying to rush it,i think they wanted to dismiss me on the grounds of ill health.
my colleague went through the policy and procedures, she said that they should not hold final meeting yet, At the last meeting it was agreed that i would apply for I.H.Retirement this was only in end October, and with all the Christmas holidays not enough time was given,
Human resource guy was not happy to admit he got it wrong, and will now have to contact all who were attending and inform them that meeting has now been canceled.

I contacted pensions and was told that all paper work was with ATOS i contacted them and was told i should hear in the next 10 days, Thank god for my friends help she has been a rock.

Will keep you posted.
Just more and more worries, cant wait till its all over, so difficult cant get a good nights sleep, back to gp tomorrow for sick cert.

Take care all, Anne-m xxx

Dear Anne Marie
I have been waiting to hear what happened. I am so sorry you are having to wait even longer and can imagine the stress this will cause. Hang in there. Try not to dwell too much (easy for me to say I know). At the end of the day this is a complex process and it is better that it is all done properly. I want you to know I am here rooting for you. Oh no! After all that waiting even more. I hope you hear something soon. It is mental torture. I am sure these people can't understand how difficult it is for you on the other side of the coin. Good luck
